Bottle Kiln in Teal Leopard Stud Earrings

Bottle Kiln Earrings have very quickly become one of my most popular pieces and I thought how gorgeous it would be to have a beautiful teal leopard design.

The bottle kilns in teal leopard stud earrings are made from laser cut wood which I then hand painted in a gorgeous teal and then added the pink and pale pink to create the teal leopard print on. Once dry, they are coated in a protective layer of resin which makes them super shiny too!

This bottle kiln is the stud version of the teal leopard earrings. It has been securely attached to a hypoallergenic surgical steel stud and it will come with a metal butterfly clasp and a rubber stopper.

A version of this bottle kiln/ bottle oven were also seen being worn by a Wedgwood Judge during the 2022 semi-final of Channel 4 Love Productions Great Pottery Throw Down!

Bottle Kilns / Bottle Ovens have become one of my bestsellers and it is what I’m known for! You can find more designs including the stud and necklace version of this design plus more jewellery which represents the pottery industry of Stoke-on-Trent here.

The Quirky Process

Each item of jewellery at Wear It Quirky are made, packaged and shipped from Stoke-on-Trent; the heart of the Potteries! More specifically, the entire process takes place in my garage-come-craft-studio.

The jewellery is therefore designed and made entirely by hand by me, Victoria, making every single pair unique and truly special. I share lots of behind the scenes of the quirky process on Instagram and Facebook.

Please note because the jewellery is handmade, there may be slight differences from one to the other and sometimes, some slight imperfections.

About the Kilns

There was once approximately 2000 bottle kilns in Stoke-on-Trent. Now only 47 remain.

All of my ancestors worked within the pottery industry. My Great-Aunt Nellie worked until she retired at the wonderful Wedgwood. When she retired as a Paintress, Wedgwood allowed her to decorate a plate which she was then gifted. My Mum still has the plate today.

My Grand-Father was a Cod Placer, as they paid for each piece they made successfully, my Grand-father had to make sure each one was placed correctly to ensure it fired correctly.

My Grand-father passed away when I was very young. I would have loved to have spoken to him about his time as a Cod Placer.

The kiln featured in the photos for these earrings is from the wonderful Middleport Pottery.
