Description

Teapot in Hot Pink Earrings

When you think if the pottery industry, you think of the beautiful ceramics and as a big tea drinker, one of my favourite ceramic pieces are teapots.

Aa the hot pink floral bottle kiln earrings have been so popular, I thought adding them to teapots would be great too!

The teapot in hot pink earrings are made from laser cut wood which I then hand painted with gorgeous flowers in mixed shade of blue. Once dry, they are coated in a protective layer of resin which makes them super shiny too!

You can choose the findings for the earrings from lots of colours, hypoallergenic surgical steel and sterling silver and as the pieces are made of wood, they are super lightweight making a bold statement earring really easy to wear.

You can find more designs including the stud, necklace and teapot version of this design plus more jewellery which represents the pottery industry of Stoke-on-Trent here.

The Quirky Process

Each item of jewellery at Wear It Quirky are made, packaged and shipped from Stoke-on-Trent; the heart of the Potteries! More specifically, the entire process takes place in my garage-come-craft-studio.

The jewellery is therefore designed and made entirely by hand by me, Victoria, making every single pair unique and truly special. I share lots of behind the scenes of the quirky process on Instagram and Facebook.

Please note because the jewellery is handmade, there may be slight differences from one to the other and sometimes, some slight imperfections.

About the Kilns

There was once approximately 2000 bottle kilns in Stoke-on-Trent. Now only 47 remain.

All of my ancestors worked within the pottery industry. My Great-Aunt Nellie worked until she retired at the wonderful Wedgwood. When she retired as a Paintress, Wedgwood allowed her to decorate a plate which she was then gifted. My Mum still has the plate today.

My Grand-Father was a Cod Placer, as they paid for each piece they made successfully, my Grand-father had to make sure each one was placed correctly to ensure it fired correctly.

My Grand-father passed away when I was very young. I would have loved to have spoken to him about his time as a Cod Placer.

The kiln featured in the photos for these earrings is from the wonderful Middleport Pottery.
